Dean Selects 2009 Dean’s Distinguished Service Award Recipients
Sponsored by a generous donor, the Dean’s Fall Reception was held on October 7, 2009, at the Columbia Museum of Art. At the event, Dean Richard Hoppmann presented the 2009 Dean’s Distinguished Service Award to a faculty and a staff member who have exhibited outstanding commitment and service to advancing the mission of the School of Medicine. For the first time, Dean Hoppmann also selected community partners who have also been instrumental in supporting the efforts of the medical school.
In addition to the Dean’s Awards, Senator Joel Lourie presented a special Senate Resolution to long-time friend and supporter, Donald Saunders, Jr., MD, for his “distinguished career in medicine and medical education, and for his numerous contributions to his profession and community.”
