Dr. Eric Williams Appointed Assistant Dean of Student Affairs

After an extensive national search, Dr. Eric Williams has accepted the position of Assistant Dean of Student Affairs.

Williams is assistant professor of Clinical Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Science. He currently works in the Counseling and Psychiatric Services department at the Center for Health and Well-Being on the main campus. Since 2013 he has also served as the director for the Introduction to Clinical Medicine I course.

Williams joined the Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Science in 2006 after completing a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine/Palmetto Health Alliance. He was honored with a number of awards during his education and training, including Child Psychiatry Resident of the Year and the Child Psychiatry Medical Student Educator Award. He earned his medical degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Board certified in both General and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Williams has extensive experience as both an educator and a clinician. He has served as a board examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is on the editorial board for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). A recipient of multiple teaching awards, he will bring a student-centered approach to the Office of Student and Career Services.

Williams replaces Dr. Donald Kenney who retired at the end of 2017.
